Prof. Meiyu Guo (郭美瑜教授) is an Assistant Professor in the Academy of Geography at Hong Kong Baptist University (香港浸會大學) and a research fellow at the Asia Energy Study Centre. She received B.Sc. in Management (2010) and M.Econ. in Environmental Economics (2012), both from Renmin University (中國人民大學), and Ph.D. in Geography (2015) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (香港中文大學). She was a visiting research fellow at Harvard University (哈佛大學) during 2014-2015. She studies the environmental impacts of unconventional energy development, with a focus on the development of shale gas. As a principal investigator (PI), she has received competitive grants from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council (RGC) Early Career Scheme (香港研資局傑出青年學者計劃) & General Research Fund (香港研資局優配研究金), and the China's National Natural Science Foundation (NSFC) Young Scientists Fund (國家基金委青年科學基金) She is also a co-PI of the NSFC-RGC Collaborative Research Scheme (國家基金會-香港研資局聯合重點項目). These fundings support her interdisciplinary, forward-looking research on techno-economic, environmental, and societal assessments of emerging energy technologies ranging from shale gas to novel photovoltaics.
